The Things You Find On Craigslist... Volume 2

The Things You Find On Craigslist... Volume 2

by Jeanelle Leclair, Social Media Specialist

It's that time again for another edition of The Things You Find On Craigslist...The blog series I have devoted to amusing posts I find on Craigslist. I haven't spent much time browsing on Craigslist until I caught wind of a new show coming to The Club at the Citadel Theatre in early February. This show consists of bizarre ads converted into music by Veda Hille and Bill Richardson and combined to create a cabaret-style play. Just hearing this made me curious... can a musical really be made up of only ads found on a classified site? After some researching and digging around, not only have I found this idea for a musical brilliant, but I have even saved some of the postings I have found to share with all of you!

So this next one that I found in the Part-time section of the Jobs category would have definitely made the cut into this upcoming play... only it came about more recently thus obviously missing the cut:

NEED HELP TAPING MOUTH!

I talk to much and can never keep my mouth closed, it bothers many people and alot of people say i need my mouth taped and i am also going to college soon so i need to learn to keep quiet for that but it is impossible to keep my mouth closed! Im bad at taping so i am looking for SOMEONE TO TAPE MY MOUTH CLOSED FOR ME. (A WOMEN ONLY!)
MESSAGE FOR DETAILS!

Disclaimer: All ads are copied verbatim. Any grammatical or spelling errors have been kept to allow the poster's original text to be represented

Note: I think that when the people who have complained that you talk too much told you to tape your mouth shut, they didn't mean literally.

This is hilarious! I know we have all experienced our fair share of Chatty Cathies, but this person has taken their obsessive talking to a whole other level. What I really hope is that this person uses their excessive talking to do good in the community, like working with children or being an auctioneer. Coming from a fellow chatter box, there is a better solution then walking around with an attention-drawing stationary item glued to your face. You do need to eat... and brush your teeth.

Be sure to tune into my next post of this series... or better yet come see the show entitled "Do You Want What I Have Got: A Craigslist Cantata", running Feb. 5th to 23rd here at the Citadel Theatre in The Club. Tickets can be purchased both online or at our box office but hurry... they are going fast!

The Things You Find On Craigslist...Volume 1

By: Jeanelle Leclair, Social Media Specialist

The Citadel Theatre is bringing a new show to our cabaret-style venue The Club that's putting a hilarious and musical spin on popular classified site Craigslist . With the show premiering February 5th, 2014, I thought I would do some research and post about some funny, sweet, strange or just generally amusing classified ads up until the opening night. Those who frequent sites like Craigslist and Kijiji have probably seen their share of interesting posts, thus can affirm how entertaining this site can be. The first ad up on my list is a post I found in the "free" section of the For Sale category on Craigslist, and the title alone caught my eye:

FREE LIZARDS FOR X-MAS!!!!

FREE FREE FREE !!!!! Lizards must go I am unable to care for them I have 2 true fire skinks adults 1 ocelet skink adult and 1 pixie frog

So first off, the use of Lizards and Xmas in the same sentence just doesn't feel right. Something about a creature that lives in hot, tropical climates just doesn't mix well with snow, winter, pine trees and ice skating. Any average child, or even any average adult, whose Christmas gift consists of a tank of lizards most likely will not be as excited about what they have received as the title of this ad entails (my apologies to the lizard-lovers out there, you are exceptions). It's a bit of a tough sell... and I am skeptical as to what reason an owner of 4 amphibious creatures would decide one day to give them all away....For free.

Do You Want What I Have Got: A Craigslist Cantata runs at The Citadel from February 5th to 23rd, 2014. Tickets are still available online or in person at our box office, be sure to get them quick as they are cheaper the earlier that you purchase.

Thanks for tuning in to our first edition of The Things You Find On Craigslist... Until next time!
